Luogosanto The name derives from the Latin Locus Santus.
Popular during the Roman period, in the Middle Ages binded around the
churches of the Nativity of Mary S. Nicola and S. Quirico. He belonged
to the administrative area of Montàngia or Montanea of the Kingdom of
Gallura, of which may have been the capital, given the presence of
nearby castles of Balaiana, but especially of Baldu, which was built by
Ubaldo Visconti. When the kingdom of Gallura ended in 1288, Luogosanto
became part of the overseas territories of the Republic of Pisa .
